HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR MATERNITY SESSION

Maternity sessions are typically done between 30-35 weeks of pregnancy. Most maternity sessions take place in my home studio and generally last about 45 minutes. Location sessions are available as well.

You don’t need to worry about posing, I will pose and light you so that you look your absolute best!

Plan for about 3 outfits. The tighter the better for dresses! Long gowns or maxi dresses are really nice. I have quite a few gowns in the studio that you are welcome to use.

I also have some fitted cropped tops with fabric so that you can show off your belly. You can also do an oversized sweater or nothing at all. Things with texture photograph really well! Lace is great! Avoid things with elastic and large patterns if possible. Avoid logos. Pre-pregnancy jeans (unbuttoned) are also really great for those bare belly shots.

Drinking lots of water prior to your session will give your skin a soft and subtle glow. Coconut oil will also help skin to look silky and soft.

This is not the time to try out a new hair style! Please make sure nails are well manicured prior to the session and that you remove any old polish that is peeling. Don’t forget to remove hair ties from your wrist. I would highly recommend getting your make up done for your session. I can recommend someone, if needed. Don’t forget to add some lashes. If you choose to do your own makeup, go for more of an evening look.

Men - plan to get hair cut about a week prior and if you prefer the clean shaven look, then shave right before your session. Fitted white or black tanks with jeans look great.

You do not need to bring anything but if you have something (ultrasound photo, pacifier, baby shoes, etc...) that you would like to incorporate please let me know!
