CAN I SHARE A STORY WITH YOU?
I remember the very first (and so far best) workshop I attended for photography, hosted by Cherly Muhr. She shared a story with all of us that had us all in tears. You see, she was pregnant with her son and shortly after he was born he passed away. She only had a few photograhs of him and they were all on her laptop. Her laptop was stollen.
SHE DOESN'T HAVE A SINGLE PHOTOGRAPH OF HER LITTLE GUY.
Can you even imagine????? :( This is one of many stories that I have heard over the years about the importrance of photographs. Life is short and you never know when you will lose someone that you love. My husband lost his mother recently and I remember asking him if he wanted to bring her into the studio to have a couple portraits done. He declined and I wish more then anything that I had insisted. Sure, they have photographs together but it would have been really nice to have an updated picture of them.
EXIST IN PHOTOGRAPHS!
And more importantly, print your photographs! I reached out to a client not long ago to see if she had some photographs from her maternity session that we did about 10 years back (my computer harddrive crashed and this was before I double backed up everything) and she couldn't locate the disk.
THOSE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE GONE FOREVER!
Minus the 1-2 images we were able to find on social media that are no longer of any quality worth printing. In today's digital era, we all want the digital files from our session. The sad reality is that most people never go on to pring their images and let's be honest, people change computers, lose USB's, harddrives become corrupt, etc... it is too easy to lose those files forever. And besides all of that, life is hectic! It is way too easy to download the files to your computer with the best intentions to print them but then before you know it a year has passed, then 5 years and you still haven't printed your images.
LET ME HELP YOU GET THOSE BEAUTIFUL IMAGES ON THE WALL!
